You know your country is fucked when...
The lead story on TV3 News is a former Miss New Zealand contestant hurting her leg in a scooter accident in Greece and she doesn't have medical insurance!!!! Shock horror!!!! How will I be able to sleep tonig....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Leading tomorrows news "Kid injures hedgehog with plastic lawnmower". Followed by "Man breaks pruning saw while trimming apple tree".
Shame on you TV3. The Maori Queen is dead and tens of thousands of people are paying their respects and you think a smiling girl with a leg in a cast is more newsworthy?

Comments:
Smiling girls in leg casts are the most newsworthy! what do you have against pretty toes sticking out of a cast?
Yeah but the girl with bung leg was hot and the Maori Queen is ... well ...decomposing.
In my book a mangled chick beats a dead one any day.

Yeah it was shit even by NZ news standards. And I could tell even though I was well on my way to being quite out of it. Has no one ever been to Thailand? Every third whitey has a mangled leg/knee from a scooter accident.
The girl wasn't that hot either. I could imagine her taking 3rd place in a Miss Gisborne contest.

Look with my wife on one side, me on the other there is just no room for the wheelchair let alone somebody in a bloody cast in it as well.
One strange thing about the story (other than its prominence as the lead) was the fact that she had had something like 4-5 separate operations in Greece, presumably at her own expense. Why not just pump yourself full or morphine, get on the plane, and get it treated in NZ wtih ACC picking up the bill?
