Our Call: Red & Green
The BIR team announces to a readership of thousands its preferences for tomorrow's election: PARTY VOTE LABOUR or GREEN.
If you live in a lefty household, make sure at least one person gives their party vote to the Greens, as they're likely but not certain of making it over 5%.
If you really enjoyed the years 1991-93, featuring such luminaries as Richardson, Upton, Shipley, Birch & Creech destroying the social fabric of the country, and feel like more of the same, then you already know what to do. That Don is a dirty rat with a not-so-hidden far right agenda.
In most cases, we'd like electorate votes to go to LABOUR. Except in Epsom, Tauranga and Mangere where you should vote for the National candidate (but not the party). It is especially important to get rid of those who neglect or kill kittens. That means a vote against John Tamihere and for Pita Sharples in Tamaki Makaurau, and against Brian Connell and for Tony Milne in Rakaia.
The Progressive party is not progressive.
One thing almost all of us might be able to enjoy on Saturday night - even Dinkas and Wiremu1306 - would be the demise of the Peters party.

Mate, I'll be happy enough to see the end of Winnie and NZF - in another life I had some experience with the yobbos he first brought to Parliament with him - although you have to acknowledge he's a character politician, whether or not you agree with his tactics and most of what he says. However, I disagree entirely with you on the Red/Green bit. Each to his own, eh?

I stand corrected W1306, I thought that from your generally favourable views on Winnie's politicking a few months back you might be a fan.
To paraphrase Harvey Keitel's character in Pulp Fiction: he might be a character but that doesn't mean he has character.

There was an 'election' at school today amongst the teachers.
Labour won in a landslide with the Greens picking up something in the region of 30% of the vote.
Roughly 90 or so voted.
Shame that only teachers aren't allowed to vote aye? ;)
Does show how educated people know who to vote for though. muhahaha
I'm going to sit on the fence in terms of picking the result though. There are too many things that will have a major impact one or two percent either way such as NZ First, Greens and the main parties.
Hopefully though people will see the light at the last minute and realise that this talk of the economy being fucked, Labour doesn't encourage business, the (tiny) treaty settlements are tearing the country apart, Gays getting married is ruining the country etc etc bullshit that National has spouted for years is nothing more than lies and hate talk.
And that multiculturalism is great so long as you are not racist.
The onus should be on racists to change, not everybody else accomodate those cunts.

On one hand, I would love to see the end of Winston, but then on the other he is a character. Winston is all about rhetoric and no substance. To be honest I don't pay too much attention to him.
I remember in 1996/1997 a Taiwanese friend of mine telling me that she was afraid on what would happen with NZ First being given the Immigration Portfolio. What happened though with Delamare as the Minister of Immigration? Nothing, no discriminatory policies against Asians. It was all rhetoric by Winston. Having said that I would hate to actually form a government with him. Winston belongs in opposition where he whine and complain (and stay out until 5am!).
Obviously, I won't be voting Red/Green as well. I just hope I can find a live TV/radio stream on Saturday to watch the TV coverage, but I will be checking in here for commentary and to make (hopefully) a few snarky comments on a new National led government.
