Election!!

So Sean Plunket has been suspended by Radio NZ after his treatment of Greens co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons yesterday.
“While I felt Sean was unnecessarily rude and abrasive during our interview, I neither complained to Radio NZ about the interview nor requested that any disciplinary action be taken.” Ms Fitzsimons said she felt Plunket’s treatment of the leaflet issue had not been balanced. “While he interviewed me very aggressively, he was much more placid in the subsequent interview on the same topic with National’s Gerry Brownlee. However, I want to make quite clear that Radio NZ’s decision to suspend Sean must have been a result of complaints from the public. It was not my doing.”

But isn't Radio NZ part of the New Zealand media's left-wing bias community?

Meanwhile those calling for some violence on the campaign trial are in luck.
Labour's Wellington Central MP, Marian Hobbs, was hit in the face with a custard pie after an Aro Valley candidates meeting on Tuesday.

And eating a burger in NZ is about to become a whole lot more fun.

Comments:
Did any readers hear the Sean Plunkett Attack Dog off it's leash yesterday? Any comments/opinions?

In the past I've commented that Sean Plunkett would often savage the government rep (e.g., the PM), and then the softly-spoken Geoff Robinson would politely interview the opposition rep (e.g., the Leader of the Opposition). But in this case it sounds like Plunkett doing the bad cop/good cop routine himself?

Radio NZ is today refusing to say why Plunket was stood down but says it wasn't to do with "that" interview.

Don't you love it when media organisations refuse to do what they demand of everyone else...i.e divulge the truth.

The public has a right to know.

I read that he was stood down after a 'conversation' with somebody on their staff after the interview.

My guess is he used some uncomplimentary words to aforementioned person.

On the Hooters thing, I saw a photo of a Hooters opening in China and let's just say the girls kind of let the 'theme' of the place down a bit.

Let's just say 'ironing boards'.

I went to one in Hawai'i - Hooters is a plain and simple sports bar (hamburgers and fries, baseball and basketball), the monotony of which is only slightly broken by the girls, which in Hawai'i did meet expectations.

I guess NZ could use a decent sports bar chain.
