Mr President

So America yells a defiant 'fuck you' to the rest of the world.

Bush's ability to mobilise the evangelical christians was the key to his success and helps explain what a lot of the rest of the world finds unfathomable - it's life Jim, but not as we know it.

Still this might not be all bad.

Readers might find the seventh comment down in my previous blog rather interesting.

I saw the other day that the last time Yates was in jail, again for cultivation, he was beaten had his food regularly stolen, prisoners also stole his prosthetic leg.

Where does the bigger danger to Yates lie here - in him being imprisoned or smoking/growing pot?

It also seems objectionable that if a judge objects to your counsel your prison sentence is harsher.

What really pisses me off though is Holderness, the judge, probably cannot even comprehend what conditions inside prisons in this country are like.

Would there be another profession in which there is such a big disconnect with your actions?

Except perhaps ordering your country to war?

Why can't the police just live by Ben Harper's lyrics: 'if you don't like my fire then don't come around because I'm going to burn one down'?

Speaking of burn, which Kiwi journalist has lost their/her job due to a little problem with something called P?

Comments:
"Their/her" was intended as a hint as to their sexuality. Darren might be a nancy-boy but he's still male. Guess again!!

To clarify my earlier comments. I wouldn't say that Holderness made his decision on sentencing out of any ill-feeling towards Blair Anderson. I think it would be more accurate to say Blair Anderson's ignorance of the legal process did Yates no favours. If you're going to fight a case such as this it's advisable to do so with a proper lawyer. Yates probably would have qualified for legal aid and I think would have fared a lot better had someone like David Ruth been representing him.

see moan, surely there are hookers in Auckland that slept with more than 300 blokes in 1999?

Rightio then, I've done some digging - called a colleague of the rumoured p-freak - who seemed genuinely surprised.

I should neh have said anything in the first place really, I'll keep digging for confirmation.
